Ashport · The rules of the house
Terms of Service
Version 1 · In effect from 2 August 2026
The short version
- You must be 16 or over to play.
- Nothing you buy makes you stronger. Everything for sale is cosmetic. There is no way to pay for power, and there never will be.
- An Era ends and the city is wiped. Money, rank, territory and inventory do not survive it. This is the design, not a fault.
- One person, one account. No bots, no scripts, no selling accounts.
- You can stop whenever you like, and we can close an account that breaks these rules.
The short version is a summary and is not the agreement. The numbered sections below are.
01 What this is
An agreement between you and the operator of Ashport.
Ashport is a browser game at ashport.city. These Terms of Service are an agreement between you and the operator of Ashport (“we”, “us”), covering the game, the website, and everything reachable from them (the “Service”).
By taking a name, signing in, or paying us anything, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree to them, do not use the Service.
Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and why. It is part of this agreement.
02 Who may play
Sixteen and over. There is no children's version of this game.
You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. Ashport is a game about organised crime in a fictional port city. It is not designed for children, it is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 16, we will close it and delete the personal data attached to it.
If you are under 18, you may only use the Service with the consent of a parent or guardian, and only they may make a purchase.
You must also be legally able to enter into this agreement where you live, and not barred from using the Service under any applicable law or sanctions programme.
03 Your account
One person, one account, and the password is yours to keep.
One account each
One person may hold one account. Additional accounts held by the same person are alts, and running them is the single most common way people are removed from this game. See section 4.
Your name
The name you take appears on public boards. You may not choose a name that impersonates another player or a real person, that is obscene, that attacks a person or a group, or that exists to advertise something. We may reclaim a name that breaks this rule, and reclaiming a name does not entitle you to anything.
Security
Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your
account. We store passwords only as a salted scrypt hash and cannot read
yours back to you or to anyone else. If you think somebody else has your account, use
the password reset on the sign-in screen, which signs out every session, and then
write to us.
Selling and sharing
You may not sell, rent, gift, or transfer an account, and you may not buy one. An account that changes hands can be closed without notice and without refund. This is not commercial protectiveness: an economy in which accounts are traded is an economy in which the boards are meaningless.
04 How you may not play
The game is a competition. These are the things that break it for everyone else.
You agree not to:
- run more than one account, or play on an account that is not yours, or accept help from an account created to feed you;
- use a bot, script, macro, automation, or any tool that plays for you or plays faster than a person can;
- exploit a bug rather than report it. If you find one that gives an advantage, tell us at admin@ashport.city. Reporting one has never cost anybody their account; using one quietly has;
- interfere with the Service: scraping at volume, denial of service, probing for weaknesses, circumventing rate limits, or defeating the challenge at the door;
- reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source or assets, except to the extent that applicable law says you may despite this clause;
- trade anything in this game for real money, cryptocurrency, or goods outside it, or advertise doing so;
- use the Service to break the law, to harass anybody, or to distribute malware.
We run automated anti-cheat. What it can do on its own is limited on purpose: above an in-fiction challenge, every escalation is reviewed by a person before anything happens to an account.
05 What you can buy, and what it is not
Appearance, and nothing else. This is a design rule, not a price list.
Nothing you buy makes you stronger. There are no boosts, no energy refills for money, no paid advantages, no advertising, and no loot boxes or random paid rewards of any kind. Everything purchasable is cosmetic. If that ever stops being true, it will be because this document changed first.
What you actually get
When you buy something, you receive a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use that item inside Ashport. You do not own it. It is not property, it is not a security, it is not a currency, and it has no monetary value outside the game.
You may not sell, transfer, or exchange a purchased item outside the Service, and any attempt to do so is void.
Payment
Payments are taken by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. Prices are shown before you pay and may include tax depending on where you are. You are responsible for any tax that applies to you.
If the item stops existing
We may change, retire, or withdraw a cosmetic item. If we withdraw something you bought within the last 12 months and give you nothing comparable in its place, write to us and we will refund it.
06 Refunds
Fourteen days, unused. Plus whatever your law gives you regardless.
We will refund any cosmetic purchase within 14 days of the purchase, so long as the item has not been equipped or used. Write to admin@ashport.city from the address on the account.
Once an item has been worn in public, it has done the thing it was bought for, and we do not refund it after that.
Nothing here removes a right you have by law. If you are a consumer in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, you have a statutory right to cancel a purchase of digital content within 14 days, which you lose only once supply has begun with your express consent and acknowledgement. Consumer law in your country may give you more than this section does; where it does, it wins.
We do not refund an account closed for breaking section 4.
07 Eras, and the wipe
The unusual clause in this document, and the one worth reading twice.
Ashport runs in Eras of roughly twelve weeks. When an Era ends, the city is wiped. Money, rank, territory, inventory, family standing and progress do not carry over. Everyone starts the next Era level with everyone else. This is the design of the game, it is not a fault, and it is not a reason for a refund.
What survives a wipe:
- your account, your name, and your sign-in;
- your Legend score and the record on your Rap Sheet, which are cumulative across every Era you play;
- cosmetics you bought, which are attached to the account rather than to the Era.
We will say when an Era is ending. The Era clock is visible in the game at all times.
08 What you write
You keep it. We need permission to show it to other players.
Family chat, family names and descriptions, and anything else you type into the game is your content. You keep whatever rights you have in it.
You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display, reproduce and transmit that content for the purpose of operating and moderating the Service, and for as long as we operate it. That licence exists so we can show your message to the family you sent it to. It does not let us sell your writing or use it to advertise something.
Do not post anything that:
- threatens, harasses, or targets a person or a group;
- is obscene, or sexualises a child in any way;
- impersonates another player, a real person, or us;
- reveals somebody's real identity, address, workplace, or contact details;
- advertises, spams, phishes, or links to malware;
- infringes somebody else's copyright or trade mark.
We may remove content that breaks these rules and act on the account that posted it. We are not obliged to monitor everything, and we do not review most of what is written before it appears.
Copyright. If something in Ashport infringes your copyright, write to admin@ashport.city with enough detail to identify the work and where it appears, and we will look into it and remove it if we agree.
09 Enforcement
What we do when a rule is broken, and what you can do about it.
Depending on what happened and whether it has happened before, we may issue an in-game challenge, remove content, roll back gains obtained by cheating, suspend an account, or close one permanently.
You can appeal any of it. Write to admin@ashport.city from the address on the account and say what you think happened. A person reads it.
We may also suspend or restrict access where we are required to by law, or where continuing would put other players or the Service at risk.
10 Our content
The city, its writing and its artwork are ours.
Ashport, its name, its artwork, its writing, its music, its code and its design are owned by us or licensed to us, and are protected by copyright and trade mark law. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use them for the purpose of playing the game and for nothing else.
You may record and stream your own play, including for a monetised channel, so long as you do not present it as an official Ashport product and do not use it to sell accounts, cheats, or in-game goods.
11 No warranty
It is a game, run by people, and it will sometimes be down.
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, that it will be free of bugs, that data will never be lost, or that any particular feature will keep existing. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties. Where that is the case, the exclusions above apply only so far as the law permits, and your statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected.
12 Liability
Capped, and honest about what the cap is.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or lost in-game progress, arising out of your use of the Service.
Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) 50 US dollars.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. If you are a consumer in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, nothing here removes your statutory rights.
Indemnity. You agree to indemnify us against claims, losses and reasonable legal costs arising from your breach of these terms, your content, or your unlawful use of the Service.
13 Changes to these terms
Versioned, and you are asked again when they change materially.
These terms carry a version number, shown at the top of this page and recorded against your account when you accept them. If we change them in a way that materially affects your rights, we will raise that version and ask you to accept the new one before you continue playing. Minor corrections, such as a clearer sentence or a fixed link, do not raise the version.
If you do not accept a new version, you may stop using the Service and ask us to close your account and refund any unused purchase made in the previous 14 days.
14 Ending it
Yours to end at any time. Ours to end for a reason.
You may stop using the Service whenever you like, and you may ask us to delete your account by writing to admin@ashport.city from the address on the account. What deletion actually removes is described in the Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or where we are required to by law. If we close an account for a reason that is not your fault, such as shutting the game down, we will refund unused purchases from the previous 12 months.
Sections 5 (what you bought is a licence), 8 (the licence you gave us), 10, 11, 12, 15 and 16 survive the end of this agreement.
15 Law and disputes
Talk to us first. It is faster than everything that follows it.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Nebraska and the United States of America, without regard to conflict of law rules. The state and federal courts located in Nebraska have jurisdiction, and you and we consent to that jurisdiction.
If you are a consumer resident in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in, and you may bring proceedings in your own courts.
Before starting anything formal, write to admin@ashport.city. Nearly everything is a misunderstanding about a rule, and nearly everything is settled in one email.
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. Our not enforcing a term on one occasion does not waive it.
